Our speakers today were Lily Tharoor and Cindy McGowan, both social workers with the St. Paul School district.  They spoke on the subject of  "Project Reach".  This is a program that promotes school stability and academic success of homeless children and youth. The program is made possible by a federal law known as "Fostering Connections" which provides federal funding allowing them to provide transportation to those who need it as well as access to school supplies, uniforms, and mentoring.  They also refer families to community agencies for medical legal and other services.  These services are sorely needed, as, on any given night there are over 10,000 homeless adults and children in MN.
